Rachel Frenzel, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and approved Supervisor in the state of Oregon. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and English with a Creative Writing Concentration from Willamette University. I completed my Masters of Social Work from Arizona State University in May 2017, and in December 2017 I passed the exam to receive my Licensed Master's of Social Work in Arizona (LMSW). Prior to relocating to Oregon, I worked in a community mental health center as a clinician, with children from ages 4-17 and their families who were facing a diverse range of environmental and mental health challenges. In Oregon I continued to work with children while completing various play therapy trainings from professionals accredited  by the Association of Play Therapy (APT).

In the last few years I have focused my practice on working with teens and adults who have survived trauma. I find that my background in working with younger children is particularly helpful in my work with adults who were traumatized as children, or who have children who have experienced trauma. I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) from the Humanitarian Assistance Program, as well as additional training in Attachment Focused EMDR. Other therapeutic modalities that I have experience and training in include Sand Tray Play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Sex Trafficking Awareness and Recovery manual, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and various trauma trainings while attending the Annual Boston International Trauma Conference in 2022 from the Trauma Research Foundation. I have focused my career on working with those who have survived trauma and I specialize in working with children and adults who have experienced traumatic events such as child abuse (sexual, physical, emotional), domestic violence, sex trafficking, grief and loss. Other areas of practice include posttraumatic stress, anxiety, behavioral issues and adjustment challenges related to environmental changes.

I am also an approved supervisor with the Oregon Board of Social Workers and enjoy having a small number of supervisees who are passionate about discovering trauma work. As co-founder of Evergreen, l believe in meeting each individual client where they are at and collaboratively developing a best-fit, client-centered plan of treatment within the safe space of the therapeutic relationship. I consider each client's unique environmental, biological, psychological and sociological needs when determining which theoretical orientation and evidenced based treatment will best meet the needs of each individual client. I value a strengths based perspective and believe in recognizing each client's unique strengths, experiences and resiliency within the therapeutic space. When I’m not working as a therapist, I enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking, paddle boarding-basically exploring the great PNW with family and friends! I also love, playing board games, re-reading my favorite books, attempting to paint Bob Ross paintings by watching youtube videos and occasionally binge watching tv shows.. I look forward to welcoming you into our space!

Rachel Martin, MA

I am a Registered Associate with the Oregon Board of Counselors. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a child specialization from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

My clinical training has focused on children who have experienced trauma, and I am certified in EMDR therapy. I have completed a variety of trauma-related trainings, including TF-CBT. My training is foundationally psychodynamic and includes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused interventions. My continued focus in training and development is around trauma such as child abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and domestic violence, and interventions for children, teens and adults, as well as interventions in the family cycle to help parents break intergenerational cycles of trauma and violence.

As a co-founder of Evergreen, I am committed to bringing more access and services to the Salem community. I believe that it is my responsibility to be well-versed in a variety of interventions so that I am ready to tailor my approach to suit each client. To be a part of a client’s journey through recovery and into strength and resilience is an honor. When I am not practicing, you may find me reading, working out, or watching a show that most people watched a few years ago. It is my sincere hope that Evergreen is a place you find peace and healing.
